Apple Fined Millions by Australian Court Over False iPhone ‘Error 53’ Claims

Apple was charged with AUD9 million (US$6.7 million) On 19-6-2018(Tuesday) tech giant apple was charged with a fine. The claim said that they violated the policies of consumer right in Australia. Apple previously refused to repair the faulty phones previously repaired by the third party person.

Customers of apple in Australia complained that there apple device after being repaired from outside the apple outlet showed the global “error 53” .This complained was launched in the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). Now the apple might face a huge loss.

The customers’ executives of Apple told the user that if you had previously repaired the device from outside they will not be able to repair their device from the official Apple outlet. Since they don’t have a solution for the problem

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).took them to the Australian federal court over the violation of consumer right policy last year. The ACCC Commissioner said that “If a product is faulty, customers are legally entitled to a repair or a replacement under the Australian Consumer Law, and sometimes even a refund,”

The fedral court said, ” The court declared the mere fact that an iPhone or iPad had been repaired by someone other than Apple did not, and could not, result in the consumer guarantees ceasing to apply, or the consumer’s right to a remedy being extinguished.”

Apple admitted the issue and refunded the amount Which they grew by misleading 225 customers in a duration of February 2015 till February 2016

The apple has not made a statement yet. But they have still accepted their part of misleading the customers
