A digital idea to make Delhi a smart city
NDMC is in the new beginning mode of making Delhi a smart city. the New Delhi Municipal Council has installed two ‘NDMC Link’ digital interactive panel at Place. The NDMC has planned to do this various other area of Delhi NDMC has taken a great initiative to make Delhi a smart city
The 9ft-panel will have features including 46-inch interactive panel to give access to all government department sites, railways, airlines, wayfinder, maps, bus services, NDMC services, tourist spots, air quality data etc, free WiFi, mobile charging point, sensor and camera to monitor. It also has a 75-inch LED screen for advertisement panel. NDMC has installed one at Palika Bazar entrance and one near Charkha Museum in Connaught Place.
NDMC chairmen has ordered the making of 50 such panels to be installed in the major areas like Chabri bazaar ,Sadar bazaar, Bengali market, khan market, India gate etc.
“New York City has implemented this concept and we have taken a cue from them to provide free WiFi services along with an interactive panel to avail government services. We have selected locations with high footfall and market places where these panels will be installed,” said Kumar.
“Link NYC panels have two 55-inch screens, one for advertisement and one interactive panel, which we have modified as 75-inch advertisement panel and 46-inch interactive panel. In the second phase, if the project is successful and well received by the public, we might increase the number of panels from 50 to 75,” added Kumar.
“The transaction facility will not be available as of now due to security issues. We are exploring possibilities for improving the services provided by these panels,” he said.
